Joe’s Famous Taco Dip

This is the layered dip my dad makes for Super Bowl parties and I’ve been making for pool parties for a few summers. – Humbaba

Lately I’ve been adding guacamole to the bottom layer. My guac is usually something like 2 avocados, some sauted onion, minced and sauted garlic, half a tomato, handful of chopped cilantro and the juice of one lime. Salt to taste. I usually just steal from my onion for the dip and put into the guac.


  • 1lb. Ground Beef, Chicken, Turkey, etc.
  • 1 packet taco seasoning
  • 1 16oz. can refried beans
  • 1 med. Onion, chopped and sauted
  • 1½ cups diced tomatoes (2-4 depending on size)
  • 12oz. shredded taco cheese
  • 8oz. cream cheese
  • 16oz. French onion dip
  • ½ head lettuce, shredded


Step 1

Brown meat, add taco seasoning, and set aside to cool

Step 2

Spread beans in even layer in bottom of 9 x 12 inch dish

Step 3

Combine French onion dip & cream cheese and layer on beans

Step 4

Combine taco meat, diced tomato, diced onion, and shredded lettuce and layer

Step 5

Add layer of black olives (Optional)

Step 6

Cover with shredded cheese

Step 7

Serve cold with tortilla chips
